Masterson’s Tavern , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I found behind its entrance was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .

From the moment I walked in , it was clear that sanitation was not a priority at Masterson’s . The floorboards were filthy, and a pungent odor of stale beer and neglected washrooms suffused the entire bar . Emitting a scent of a mixture of human waste, putrefaction and sour vomit .
